The Nigerian custom service (NCS) federal operation unit zone c owerri has continued to record huge success as it continues to intensify its anti-smuggling operation under the new controller Bashir Balogun.
This was disclosed to newsmen by spokesman of the unit on Thursday in owerri, imo state capital .
Addressing journalist in his maiden press conference, Controller Balogun maintained that smuggling not only pose serious threat to local industry but is economic threat to federal government of Nigeria
He reaffirmed the unit commitment to fighting smuggling thereby surpassing their projected target.
Among the seized items include bales of second hand cloth, used tyres and various quantities of petroleum products among others.
He attributed his success to the untiring effort of his officers through intelligence gathering.
